Community Connections The Community Connections mission is to support and advance the University’s commitment to regional stewardship and help build in the minds of elementary and middle school students and their parents a commitment to attain a postsecondary education. Community Connections is committed to increasing faculty, student and staff participation in outreach and public engagement and promotes their visibility both internally and externally. Community Connections sponsors non-credit programs, including Elderhostel, provides information about programs and services available to the public, manages the NKU Connect center as a point-of-contact between NKU and the public, and facilitates NKU Spirit Day, ArtReach performances and Campus Visits for area schoolchildren and special groups. The Community Connections mission is carried out in three primary areas of focus: outreach information services, non-credit programs, and outreach to P-12 schools. The NKU Connect Center (859-572-5600) is a single source of information about programs and services offered to the public. NKU Connect is the point of service for non-credit courses and provides public event calendaring, web registration and other program support services to NKU departments for NKU-sponsored public events.
NKU Connections – a schedule of NKU events and activities that are open to the public, published each semester in print and electronic format. The web site is updated daily to provide an up-to-date listing of the University’s public programs. An electronic NKU Connections E-newsletter update is available by subscription. A special NKU Connections Educators Edition is also electronically published to Northern Kentucky and Greater Cincinnati educators three times annually. Non-Credit Programs – Elderhostel and classes and workshops for children and adults wishing to learn for fun, professional growth and personal enrichment. P-12 Outreach – programs that enhance and centralize certain aspects of the University’s increased commitment to elementary and secondary education in the region. Programs include group visits to campus and arts outreach programs and NKU Spirit Day in area elementary schools.
