Kentucky Native
Plant Society The Kentucky Native Plant Society has developed a series of classes covering various topics in native plant studies. The classes are designed for individuals interested in our native plants but who have no background in botany or related sciences. Individuals not interested in pursing the certificate may take only those courses in which they are most interested. Certification is earned by completion of six core courses and at least three special topic courses. Two core courses are typically offered per semester, in a 12-hour format on four consecutive weekends at three hours per weekend. Special topic courses are typically offered in a one-day, six-hour format. The program is co-sponsored by NKU’s Department of Biological Sciences, the Kentucky Native Plant Society and NKU Community Connections. Classes meet in Science Center 168 at the NKU Highland Heights Campus. Some fieldwork may be required.
